Shia LaBeouf's recent string of bizarre behavior only got stranger on Sunday when he wore a paper bag on his head at the premiere of his film Nymphomaniac, Volume 1 during the 64th Berlinale International Film Festival.
The tuxedo-clad actor posed for photos as he peeked through two eye cutouts in the paper bag, on which the words "I am not famous anymore" were written. It's the same sentence he's been repeatedly been tweeting since Jan. 13.
Earlier on Sunday, LaBeouf stormed out of a press conference for the film after answering just one question, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And what an answer it was: when asked about his many sex scenes in the Lars von Trier film, he responded, "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much."
His fellow panelists -- including stars Christian Slater, Stacy Martin, Stellan Skarsgard, Uma Thurman and producer Louise Vesth -- reportedly looked stunned for a moment before lightly applauding while LaBeouf made a quick exit.
Slater tried to diffuse the situation in his next answer, saying, "Obviously, the script is packed with a lot of sardines ... one sardine after another."
In town to promote the film, LaBeouf's troubles began Saturday night when he lunged after three young men who tried to take his photo at the Ritz Carlton lounge. The 27-year-old actor's friends quickly intervened to calm him down.
The "seagulls" line is a quote from French soccer legend Eric Cantona, who is featured in Ken Loach's Looking for Eric.
In January, LaBeouf took to Twitter to declare he was "retiring from all public life." That came on the heels of a controversy that was ignited in December when it was revealed that his critically praised short film HowardCantour.com was lifted from artist Dan Clowes' graphic story Justin M. Damiano.
